net-a-porter.com

The layout of the website is set out like a fashion magazine because the home page of the site has many images with subheadings that when clicked on will lead onto the main pages ie. like the front of a fashion magazine that shows the main topics. The front of a magazine has alot of imagery. Net-a-porter is the worlds online luxury fashion retailer just for women with the hottest looks of the season from intenational cutting edge labels.

Farfetch.com

The website is very simple but easy to understand with a chronological order of all the designers names, however the site does not use much imagery. The boutiques are very diverse representing a different facet of fashion and each with a very individual view point. Farfetch.com unites fashion lovers with independent boutiques around the world. There are over 1000 fashion labels to shop from for both men and women.

The Village Bicycle

The Village Bicycle was set up a year ago along Ledbury Road. The shop is about young, new designers having a chance to showcase their work and will be showcasing their own work soon. What I love about this place was the atmosphere, it was fun and chilled. The walls were bright and arty with cool furnishings. At the front of the store are comfy sofas with cushions to make you feel at home.

Beyond Retro

Beyond Retro is a vintage store just off Brick lane. This vintage store has to be one of the best around with its bright, vibrant, printed garments. You can find one-off individual pieces for men and women. The garments are very cheap and you can always guarantee a good find. The outside of the shop looks very run down and old, with no window displays. The shop also creates this feel on the inside with its concrete floors and old furnishings.

Absolute Vintage

Absolute Vintage is a cool, unique vintage store just off Brick lane which has one off goods. The prices are reasonable and you can always find a good bargain. On a Saturday and Sunday this area will be bustling with people looking for a great deal.

Present

Present is a menswear store which stocks many different brands, mainly American. The store is placed in Shoredich which is a quirky, arty area. The store when you enter is not that welcoming and the staff didn't seem to want to help.

Oxfam boutique

Oxfam Boutique is placed in Westbourne Grove Nottinghill which is a very wealthy area. This Oxfam contains designer second hand clothing. Every thing is laid out nicely with the garments on wooden hangers because this Oxfam is no ordinary Oxfam store. This store is trying to be more like a boutique with second hand designer clothing.

Start

The windows are bland but when you enter the store it is full of vibrant, coloured garments that catch your eye. The outside of the store is bland because of the target audience the shop is trying to portray e.g for a professional man or women. The store is situated in a fairly remote area but due to its high reputation people will go their for a specific buy. The garments in Start are very expensive and there are a few branches of Start along the same road each focusing on a different target market.

Matches

Matches is placed along the quiet Ledbury road. The area is very up market and is surrounded by many boutiques and designer stores. The store contains all the latest seasons from many top designers like McQueen and Stella McCartney, providing very expensive garments. When you enter the store there is a warm welcome from all the staff and theirs a free matches catalogue with all the latest clothing.
This catalogue is great for the customers because the custom for matches is not huge due to the prices of the garments and the area the shop is placed.

Other

When you enter the store you feel like you are part of a family, presented with a personal service and welcoming. The collections are designed around minimal, clean and urban. The core theme is quality, easy clothes for young, independent men.
The store also has its own news paper giving you the latest trends and what the shop is all about.

Urban Outfitters

Tie Dye skirt in the sale for £20 Bargain!!!

Urban Outfitters has always been one of my favourite shops, the atmosphere is laid back and the store has a cool vibe with very individual pieces because of the relaxed layout, staff and music. The layout creates a vintage vibe with all the wooden stands and flooring. There is also a section where you can buy unique vintage clothes. The clothes in Urban Outfitters for a high street store is expensive but it is quality you are paying for.

Selfridges

Yayoi Kusama collaboration between Louis Vuitton

Selfridges window displays are always eye catching as they tell a kind of story instead of just having the garments placed on a mannequin in the window. Currently the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama has collaborated with Louis Vuitton with her famous iconic, bright, repetitive patterns. Also the inside of the store gives you the wow factor which features many different brands all laid out in a prestigious way.

Acne

The outside of the shop is very plain, with simple mannequins in the window display. I would describe Acne as sophisticated simplicity. All over the floor are mannequins that look like over sized artists which are mainly undressed. Acne feels more like an artists gallery.

Dover street market

Walking up to Dover Street Market I found it was very busy and it was surrounded by many designer stores. The layout inside is very spacious and simple but sophisticated. The store did not have many people inside because it is so expensive. However, the atmosphere is very strict!! You cannot take photos or even take notes.

Liberty

The Liberty store is situated in Regent street which is just off Oxford street. Liberty is a leading department store which is a tudor style building that has a contemporary relaxed feel. The store has individual pieces that regularly sponsors new designers with cutting edge style.

Top Shop

Top shop collaborated with JW Anderson

Which was inspired by youth pop and subcultures

The feel of the shop is fun and quirky mainly targeting the ages of 15-30. The shop is based along the busy streets of Oxford street London which attracts many people every day. The windows outside draw your attention as the mannequins are usually telling a kind of story about the new styles. However, the JW Anderson window display was kept very simple.

Browns

Me and Cameron outside Browns

The shop is a small boutique along Molten street which is targeted for young designers to get thier work established. It provides individual, quality, hand picked items. The windows are kept very simple but they have a sophisticated feel. The street is placed off of Oxford street which is not very busy.
